Six Guidance Counselors Receive EducationQuest Scholarships

(Lincoln, Nebraska, March 21, 2007) - EducationQuest Foundation has selected six Nebraska high school guidance counselors to receive its 2007 Guidance Counselor Enrichment Scholarship. They are Eric Feeken, Bancroft-Rosalie Community School; Cindy Hanquist, Geneva North High School; Dawn Moser, Mead High School; Vicky Munoz, Papillion-LaVista High School; Betsy Noller, Lexington High School; and Marcia Wakeley, Randolph Public School.

The scholarships will fund the counselors' attendance at upcoming college and career-planning conferences. Each recipient's school will also receive $1,000 to implement college access programs or to purchase college prep materials.

Noller and Wakely will attend the Great Plains Association for College Admission Counseling Conference April 18-20, 2007 in Overland Park, Kan. Feeken and Munoz will attend the National Association for College Admission Counseling Conference September 27-29, 2007 in Austin, Tex. Hanquist and Moser will attend the Careers Conference January 28-30, 2008 in Madison, Wis.

"Nebraska high school guidance counselors play a vital role in helping students transition from high school to college - often with little funding," said EducationQuest Vice President Christine Denicola. "We're pleased to support their efforts by providing professional development opportunities and much-needed resources through this scholarship."
