Event at Westfield Gateway will help students KnowHow2GO to college

(LINCOLN, Nebraska, February 29, 2008) – EducationQuest Foundation and Westfield Gateway Mall in Lincoln are teaming up Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7 to inform students and parents about four steps they need to follow to make college a reality. It's all part of a KnowHow2GO event at the mall from 1-4 p.m. each day.

KnowHow2GO is a national campaign that promotes four steps 8th - 10th graders need to follow to make college a reality. EducationQuest Foundation is coordinating the campaign in Nebraska with the help of statewide partners including the Governor's office, Nebraska colleges and universities and statewide school districts. Gateway Mall recently joined the campaign as a partner.

During the event, EducationQuest staff – with the help of KFRX radio station and some local celebrities – will give away items that promote going to college including KnowHow2GO materials and college apparel donated by statewide colleges and universities. EducationQuest hopes to reach students and parents from across the state who are in Lincoln for the Boys State Basketball Tournament.

Miss Nebraska Ashley Bauer will be on hand March 7 to stress to students the importance of having an adult in their lives to help guide them to college.

The four KnowHow2GO steps are:

1. Be a pain - in a good way. Ask an adult to help guide you to college and keep asking until you find someone who will.
2. Push yourself. Take rigorous coursework in high school and get involved in extracurricular activities.
3. Find the right fit. Discover colleges that match your career interests and skills.
4. Put your hands on some cash. Apply for scholarships and financial aid.
